The shipment of biological materials is carried out in accordance with all relevant regulations. It is the responsibility of the Customer to verify the applicable regulations for the species they are ordering.
CCP assumes no liability for any damage or injuries resulting from transportation. The Customer must agree to comply with the terms outlined in the Material Transfer Agreement (MTA), which must be completed, signed, and submitted to CCP by mail.
Please note that the fee paid by the Customer is not for the culture itself but represents a contribution to the costs associated with handling and maintenance.
Cultures are delivered as active growing strains. Alternative delivery methods can be arranged by prior agreement between CCP and the Customer.
CCP cultures are supplied with the understanding that the Customer will adhere to the principles outlined in the Convention on Biological Diversity (www.cbd.int).
General Procedure for Depositing a Bacterial Strain
Depositing a bacterial strain is free of charge and requires the submission of a Deposit Form, which should be requested by contacting CCP at ccporto@ff.up.pt.
Strains should only be sent after receiving approval from CCP. CCP reserves the right to refuse any deposit.
Deposit for Publication of a New Species
CCP conducts the necessary checks and will assign a CCP number to the strain, along with a deposit certificate. The information provided will remain confidential until the article related to the strain is published.
If the author wishes to obtain the genome sequence of the strain free of charge as part of a collaboration, please inform CCP at the time of deposit.
The Customer receiving CCP strains is responsible for their proper storage, maintenance, handling, and use. Neither CCP nor its host institution (FFUP/UP) can accept responsibility for any damages or injuries arising from the improper use, storage, or loss of CCP cultures.
Although CCP verifies the identity of strains according to internal operating standards, we cannot be held liable for any damages resulting from misidentification or mishandling of strains by the Customer.
